Will sleep training damage my baby?

Accepted Answer

Sleep training poses no harm to your baby. On the contrary, upon completing the training, infants experience improved sleep patterns, fostering enhanced physical health, cognitive development, and emotional well-being.

Will sleep training affect the bond with my baby?

Accepted Answer

There exists no link between sleep training and any adverse impact on the maternal-child bond. Following sleep training, improvements in the baby's sleep patterns result in enhanced rest for both the infant and the mother. This can lead to reduced maternal stress and improved mood, thereby potentially strengthening the bond between mother and child.

What age can you start sleep training?

Official sleep training can start after a child is 16 weeks old. Before this I offer sleep shaping talks for newborn babies to 4 months of age. This gives parents gentle strategies they can implement from day one in a bid to never need to do any sleep training later in the child's life.

Will my child cry when they are sleep training?

In the journey of sleep training, it's natural for children to express their feelings through protest and tears. It's important to stay positive and remember that we're not causing harm. Instead, we're empowering them with a valuable new skill, even if it comes with some temporary discomfort. I'm committed to working alongside you, providing coaching and assistance as we navigate through the crying phase together as we tune into your  child's cries and understand what they really mean.

During this initial conversation, we will delve into your specific sleep challenges, and I will explain the details of my service packages and how they can address your needs effectively.

Should you decide to proceed, you will be asked to complete a comprehensive questionnaire to provide me with a thorough understanding of your circumstances, enabling me to devise a personalised sleep plan tailored to your situation.

Our collaboration will span two weeks, during which we will maintain daily communication via text and email. Additionally, I offer the option of an in-home visit for the initial evening of sleep training, if desired.
